Yet another product spun from versatile soybeans, soya yarn is a buttery-soft luxury upgrade from animal-derived fibres.
Crafted from the byproducts of soybean processing, and the only textile composed of pure plant protein, eco-friendly soya yarn is moisture-wicking, hypoallergenic, biodegradable, and breathable. The resulting material is stronger than sheep’s wool, with comparable warmth.
Soya yarn is innovative, but it’s far from new. In 1941, motoring magnate Henry Ford modelled a soy necktie at his birthday celebration, and he was also pictured wearing a soya wool blend suit. Many Ford vehicles produced between 1941 and 1945 even featured soya fabric sidewall upholstery. This was perhaps a sign of what was to come, as automakers now turn to planting leathers and wools for luxury car interiors.

Renowned fabric innovators KD New York have pioneered soft and luxurious Vegetable Cashmere™, which is cruelty-free and environmentally sound. It avoids the horror of stripping goats of their hair and the desertification that comes with raising them.
