Yet another product spun from versatile soybeans, soya yarn is a buttery-soft luxury upgrade from animal-derived fibres.

Crafted from the byproducts of soybean processing, and the only textile composed of pure plant protein, eco-friendly soya yarn is moisture-wicking, hypoallergenic, biodegradable, and breathable. The resulting material is stronger than sheep’s wool, with comparable warmth.

Soya yarn is innovative, but it’s far from new. In 1941, motoring magnate Henry Ford modelled a soy necktie at his birthday celebration, and he was also pictured wearing a soya wool blend suit. Many Ford vehicles produced between 1941 and 1945 even featured soya fabric sidewall upholstery. This was perhaps a sign of what was to come, as automakers now turn to planting leathers and wools for luxury car interiors.
